About Us:

The first and most important step in dog training is selecting the right trainer for both YOU and YOUR DOG.  Just as there are many different methods of training, there are many different types of trainers. It is vital that you find a trainer that both you and your dog are comfortable with to ensure positive training results.

K9 Home School Dog Training offers superior training services to people who care about their relationship with their dogs. We believe that training should fit the dog and not the other way around.  We do not provide "cookie cutter" training programs, nor do we endorse or use electronic shock collars.  We work with your dog's natural instincts and social structure to make your dog a well behaved member of the family.

Today's dog owners must realize that a badly behaved dog is not just destructive or annoying, but we live in a world  where bad dog behavior can land the owner in a courtroom facing legal fees, damages and sometimes the loss of your pet. In addition, as a pet owner, you have a responsibility to ensure your dog is controllable and safe around others, not just your family.  K9 Home School and New Bern Dog Training offer Behavior Modification programs to help solve your dog's issues.  If you’ve made the decision to own a dog, then it is your obligation to act responsibly.

It's a Dog's Life in New Bern!

If you own a dog in New Bern, you have many wonderful places to have fun with your pooch! Of course, if your dog is not well behaved, then it won't be fun for you! Take the first step to experiencing some local dog hangouts by calling today to schedule your dog's training!

About the Alaskan Malamute

Meet Your Trainer

Professional Dog Trainer Fran Iwanicki has been a dog lover all of her life.  From her first wolf hybrid rescue to her current menagerie of long haired dachshunds and one rescue Malamute, her love of animals has been evident to all that have known and worked with Fran .  It was not unusual for Fran to carry home a "needy" pet since she could walk, and it seems that continues to happen with the addition of Mica in 2004.

( Read about Mica's Story.)

Dog training is not just a job for Fran.  It is something she has worked on for her entire life. She has owned and trained over 20 dogs in her life, many of them "throw away dogs" that no longer fit in their owner's lifestyle. Some were slated for death row for behavioral and socialization issues.  Since beginning as a professional trainer in 2003, Fran has trained over 370 dogs here in North Carolina. Some are family Show Offs and some strut it in the Competition Ring! You might just want to check out her testimonials here.

Fran's experience with animals includes a volunteering with several humane organizations, including the SPCA of Dallas, TX,  Catawba County Humane Society, REINS of North Carolina, the ASPCA and Noahswish. In addition to working with dogs, Fran has worked with horses for over 20 years, owning an operating a private boarding facility in California, as well as competing in team roping, team penning and other arena events.

Formerly, the owner of Lake Norman Natural Dog Training in Mooresville, NC, Fran relocated to New Bern, NC in 2007 and opened K9 Home School.
